She nurses coffee in a small cafΓ©
Waiting for her baby lying down the hall Stares out through bloodshot eyes At a world she doesnβt recognize at all
One where golden sunlight falls
On golden people in confident stride
Unaware behind dark sun shades
Of the bullets that pass them by
Oh if they could only see her
Maybe they would lend a hand
Or if they could hear her voice
Maybe they would understand thatβ¦
The weight of the world
Is pulling her right down to the ground
Lower than sheβs every been before
Sheβs reaching out for answers
But she will not find them there
Thatβs why she bears
The weight of the world
She passes barbecues and baseball games
As she drives down to the respite hall
And all the things that she once took for granted Hang like paintings on her living room wall
At night she dreams of freedom
A chance to breathe, a chance to rest
But in the morning when she wakes
The dream is gone just like all the rest
And the weight of the world
Is pulling her right down to the ground
Lower than sheβs ever been before
Thereβs no resolution, thereβs no chance to heal Thatβs why she feels The weight of the world
When will someone tell her that itβs over?
Why does it take so long?
And if she canβt save him, then who is gonna save him?
Whoβs gonna be there when sheβs gone?
She finds herself back in the same cafΓ©
Another day near the same small door
Same world, same sun, same people
But theyβre moving faster than they did before
Some days she wants so badly
To be the one to pass on by
Free from all the killing worry
She is free to run again, free to fly andβ¦ The weight of the world Is pulling her right down to the ground Lower than sheβs ever been before She tries to smile sometimes but she cannot pretend She cannot believe that she is any closer to the end And the weight of the world Is pulling her right down to the ground The weight of the world Is pulling her right down to the ground She nurses coffee in a small cafΓ©
